AAJA-Chicago is seeking college students to apply for summer internships at the Chicago Tribune and WBEZ – 91.5 FM. We are pleased that WBEZ has partnered with AAJA-Chicago for the first time to offer one of our student members the opportunity to work in public radio.
The internships are part of the Chicago chapter’s mission to encourage people to enter the profession of journalism and increase diversity in Chicago area newsrooms. They were established more than a decade ago in honor of the chapter’s co-founders, Linda Yu of ABC-7 and David Ibata, formerly of the Chicago Tribune. In addition to great work experience, the winners of our internships receive $2,500 stipends from the chapter.
For more details, we have attached PDFs for each internship. You can apply for either or both internships. The deadline is Feb. 15. It is a competitive process, so please get your applications in as soon as possible.
Edited to add: Applicants do not need to be students at Chicago-area colleges or AAJA Chicago members to qualify for the internships; they are open to students across the country.
