The Chicago chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association is pleased to sponsor a paid fall 2023 internship at Block Club Chicago, a local leader in neighborhood news.
The chosen candidate will receive valuable, hands-on reporting experience at a top Chicago newsroom through a part-time internship lasting 10-12 weeks.
Interns will work at least 3 days/week. Hours are flexible based on the intern’s hourly and weekly needs, but must be discussed proactively with their supervisor at Block Club.
Pay is $22/hour. $2,500 of the intern’s pay is provided by AAJA Chicago’s scholarship fund and given in honor of chapter co-founder and longtime ABC7 Chicago journalist Linda Yu for her dedication to empowering the voices of Asian Americans.
All candidates must submit a resume, a cover letter, contact information for two references, and two to four clips or other work samples.
- Eligible interns are incoming junior or senior undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent college graduates.
- Interns must be student members of AAJA by the time they start the internship (register at aaja.org).
- Ability to live in Chicago in fall 2023.
